Big Mommas Bicycle Florida Coastal Tour
This tour is amazing and its a memorable vacation! You cannot see true florida any other way. BMT (Big Mommas Tours) has the best in lodging, restaurants, snacks. We are experienced in the tour business, with a small, fun group.
Fly into Naples Nov 22nd/Dec 6th, 2009, we will pick you up at the airport and take you to the Hilton Naples, a great hotel, very close to our shop, where we will fit you on your bicycle anytime, help you pack your bike for a 9 am trip! Your bike will be a surly long haul trucker or an upright touring bike. since we have a whole shop full of bikes, we will be able to make you very comfortable. bring your favorite saddle if you want. if you are used to clipping with shoes, bring them and your peddals. Your bike will be outfitted with several bottle holders, handlebar bag panniers and every thing you will need for this 4.5 riding days 141 mile tour.
This is a great sampler for independent bicycle touring. if you want to learn, we will teach you mechanics and safe riding. on this tour you will be able to ride at your own pace. a support vehicle will be there to carry your luggage from luxury hotel to luxury hotel and to provide your favorite cold snack food and beverages.

day i- Nov 22nd/dec 6th, 2009 naples florida, 0 miles Hilton Hotel. airport pick up, fit bike day. meet your fellow cyclists and local tour leader/mechanic. we will fit you on your bike anytime. the beach, clam pass park, waterside shops, etc are all within a mile walk/ride. its a great place to explore!
day 2- Nov 23rd/dec 7th naples, florida to ft myers beach, 28 miles
our 9 am starting ride will take us through pelican bay, vanderbilt beach, bonita beach and across many bridges on beautiful barrier islands. lovers key state park and bodwitch point are just a few of the amazing stopping points along the way. the views are spectacular, bring your camera! Hopefully we will reach our rental houses at the pink shell resort by early afternoon so you have time to explore beaches and fun ft myers beach!
day 3- Nov 24th/dec 8th, ft myers beach, FL to captiva, FL 26 miles
todays ride starts with a ride up the ft myers beach bridge to the sanibel causway. today we will ride straight through and tour ding darling state park and we will end up at south seas plantation, a truly amazing area. After checking in, feel free to explore the island before meeting the group at the bubble room in captiva. this nostalgic restaurant is really special with award winning dinner!
day 4, Nov 25th/Dec 9th, captiva to venice, florida, 36 miles
This day will start with a ferry ride to boca grande, florida. after getting off the private charter, we will pedal north through resort towns until we reach the beautiful beaches of venice beach where we will be staying directly on the gulf of mexico.
day 5, Nov 26th/dec 10th,venice to long boat key, 31 miles
FROM venice we will pedal north through resort towns until we reach the beautiful beaches of long boat key where we will be staying at the hilton, directly on the gulf of mexico.
day 6, Nov 27th/Dec 11th, Venice to our van pick up loc. by bradenton 20+/- miles
we will be riding our last north jaunt through holmes beach and go for an eastern ride towards the highway where the support van will drive us home to Naples.
day 7, tours over. naples free day, 0 miles
lots to do here, use your bikes until your flight out and your guide will drive you to rsw, fort myers airport, located about 45 minutes from your hotel.
things to know about the tour
to book this tour, please call for a credit card deposit of $450. (discover, am ex, visa, mc) The balance is due 45 days before the tour begins. the deposit is completely refundable 90 days before the tour, 70% refundable 45 days before the tour. cash or checks is also accepted.
when you decide to tour with us, we will send you a questionaire which will ask questions like what you like to as a snack and drink on the bike, your biking ability, etc. we will call you to make sure all your questions are answered. we can prorate the tour based on your travel schedule. its your once in a lifetime tour vacation and we're here to make it fabulous! this is a small tour of less than 14 people. we have at least one bicycle tour leader and a van available if you need a lift and to carry the snacks, etc. let us know how we can help make this amazing experience special for you. (maybe line up a massage at the end of the day, a birthday cake for a special occasion?)
since big mommas is also a bicycle shop with the states best mechanics, we can assemble and pack your own personal bicycle at no extra charge if you would rather take you own bicycle. we can also provide handlebar bags, packs, panniers, etc.
the day starts with a meeting each morning over breakfast and a map of where to go. you can ride with a group or on your own, no one has to wait, there are no "rules". you can communicate with us by cell if you need flat repair, a ride, hungry? thirsty? lost? we got you covered! there will be at least one riding tour guide/mechanic and a van support driver/mechanic. Our mechanics are Certified bicycle technicians and usa cycling licensed race mechanics. The van support will have your bags in your rooms and hand out key cards to your hotel room when you arrive at the days destination. we usually leave around 9 am and arrive at the days destination around 3. this gives us plenty of time to sight see in places like ding darling preserve, lovers key state park, south lido state park nature center, gasparalla island state park, siesta key, bodwitch point reg. park, and other breaks or jaunts off course along the way.
