We search for prices on over 120 bike retailers to guarantee that we find the lowest prices – to save you time and money.

It’s a promise we stand behind: If you find a lower price on a bike elsewhere, we will sell it to you for 10% less. The bike must be the same color and size, sold in the US and not include the use of a coupon.

If you find a lower price, email us at [email protected] with documentation of the price. We’re committed to making sure that the cost of a bike does not keep you from cycling!

Summary of Reviews

We have read all expert and user reviews on the Mooncool TK1. In summary, this is what cyclists think.

11 reasons to buy

  • At low speeds and while stationary, tricycles offer greater stability than bicycles.
  • The low step-through frame makes for easy mounting and dismounting.
  • The TK1's 500W motor provides ample power and effectively tackles gradients up to 15% in testing.
  • A 235lb tester achieves 27.8 miles on a flat route using only the throttle.
  • Reviewers appreciate the cushioning the 4" tires provide on bumpy pavement.
  • Experts say the bike's mechanical brakes offer good stopping power.
  • The BMX-style handlebars are height-adjustable and foldable.
  • The Mooncool TK1 has a high payload capacity of 400lb and comes with front and rear baskets.
  • Testers appreciate the narrow turning radius.
  • The TK1 comes with fenders, a headlight, and a horn.
  • Mooncool offers the TK1 in six colorways.

12 reasons not to buy

  • The Mooncool TK1 is heavy at almost 90lb, bulky, and difficult to lift.
  • Tricycles can be unstable at high speeds and when cornering.
  • Experts describe assembly as complex and time-consuming, one saying it's a nightmare.
  • Buyers must install and tune the drivetrain and brakes themselves, or pay for a professional assembly.
  • Reviewers criticize the flimsy rear basket and "dangerously" sharp metal clips that hold it together. All experts opt to use zip ties instead.
  • Testers report a lag of up to three seconds for pedal assist to engage and one second for it to disengage.
  • Experts bemoan the squeaky brakes, clanking rear fenders, and rattling rear basket.
  • The TK1 doesn't have a parking brake to prevent rolling when stopped.
  • Reviewers and owners complain that the backrest and saddle loosen while riding.
  • The display is small and dim, say testers.
  • The TK1 doesn't come with a rear light.
  • Some Mooncool buyers report receiving trikes with damaged parts.

Bottom line

The Mooncool TK1 is a fat-tire electric tricycle with a 500W front hub motor and a 696Wh battery. Experts praise its stability, range, and climbing ability. Most riders between 5' and 6'3" feel comfortable. Owners and testers complain of difficult assembly, noisy or loosening parts, and a flimsy rear basket. The TK1 lacks safety features like a parking brake and rear lighting, and the lagging pedal assist is worrying. While some testers feel the TK1 is good value, others consider it poor quality, and buyers should consider the additional cost of professional assembly and a rear light.

Mooncool TK1 3 Wheel Trike Electric Bike. 48V 15Ah 500W (750 Peak) E-Bike Full Test

The bike performed well. The only issues I had were that the seat kept loosening up, the backrest would not stay tight, and basket clips let the basket rattle, so I used zip ties instead.
