BikeRide finds and shows you the best prices of the bikes you want to buy. Prices constantly change and it’s impossible to compare them all yourself.

We search for prices on over 120 bike retailers to guarantee that we find the lowest prices – to save you time and money.

It’s a promise we stand behind: If you find a lower price on a bike elsewhere, we will sell it to you for 10% less. For example, if you find a bike for $480 that we have listed at $500, we will offer you to buy it for $432 through BikeRide. The bike must be the same color and size, sold in the US and not include the use of a coupon.

If you find a lower price, email us at [email protected] with documentation of the price. We’re committed to making sure that the cost of a bike does not keep you from cycling!

Summary of Reviews

We have read all expert and user reviews on the Urban Arrow Family. In summary, this is what cyclists think.

12 reasons to buy

  • Reviewers say the Urban Arrow Family is a great alternative to a second family car.
  • Urban Arrow offers the choice of Bosch Performance Line or Cargo Line motors and their standard (500Wh) or smart (545Wh) systems.
  • The Family comes with fenders and integrated front and rear lights.
  • The Cargo Line motor’s 85Nm of torque proves sufficient for climbing hills.
  • The enviolo Heavy Duty hub is smooth and provides stepless shifting.
  • Testers find the kickstand stable and easy to use.
  • Reviewers laud the seamless and smooth assistance from the Bosch motors.
  • Experts say the long, narrow bucket and flat floor are more practical for carrying cargo and young children than the shorter, wider boxes of some competitors.
  • The Gates Carbon belt drive and enviolo hub are quiet and low maintenance.
  • Testers say the optional rain cover is excellent.
  • The Magura CMe disc brakes with optional ABS provide reliable, safe braking, even on roads covered with wet leaves.
  • Reviewers say the steering initially feels wobbly at low speeds, but once they're accustomed to this, the bike is stable, easy to guide through corners, and impressively nimble, even when loaded.

9 reasons not to buy

  • Testers are disappointed by the range of the single 482Wh battery combined with the Cargo Line motor. Buyers can pay extra for a dual-battery setup.
  • Reviewers are generally happy with the bike’s ride, but they bemoan the lack of suspension.
  • Urban Arrow says assistance is limited to 15.5mph, but a reviewer easily reaches 19mph.
  • Getting clear information about this bike is frustrating and fruitless due to poor website design and unhelpful e-mail support.
  • One tester calls the swept-back handlebars comfortable, but another says their wrists are at an awkward angle.
  • The plastic cargo box is easy to clean but susceptible to damage from sharp objects.
  • As with any bakfiet (box bike), the Family’s length makes storage challenging and hinders maneuverability in tight spaces.
  • Though the box has enough legroom for an adult, two older kids sitting side-by-side will find it a squeeze.
  • A reviewer says the optional box cover is awkward to fit and easily falls off.

Bottom line

Urban Arrow’s Family is a Class 1 front-load cargo e-bike with enviolo hub gearing. Buyers can choose between Bosch Performance or Cargo Line motors and a chain or belt drive. The only reviews are of the 85Nm Cargo Line build. Testers call the Family a practical car replacement. Carrying capacity, smooth operation, and overall utility earn praise from reviewers who find the kickstand stable and easy to use, the brakes excellent, and the drivetrain quiet. Range from the single battery is poor, the plastic box lacks durability, and getting useful information about the bike is difficult. That said, owners and reviewers consider the Family great value.

Urban Arrow Family Cargo E-Bike Review 2024

All in all, Jody and I have been super happy with the Urban Arrow Family. It’s such a well-built e-bike that is fun to ride and has plenty of room for the kids and all of their gear.

Cargo Bike Crew

Urban Arrow Family vs Riese & Müller Packster 70

… the Urban Arrow Family represents the “all-rounder” persona – exceptional for cargo and passengers alike, delivering a smooth and steady ride… We’re sticking with the Urban Arrow as it suits our daily needs perfectly (I would love it more with front suspension though…)
