Summary of Reviews

We have read all expert and user reviews on the RockyMounts Hendrix. In summary, this is what cyclists think.

4 reasons to buy

  • Owners find the Hendrix compact and easy to transport using the included case that attaches to bottle cage mounts.
  • This lock is covered by RockyMounts’ limited lifetime warranty.
  • At 1.4lb, the Hendrix is light for a folding lock.
  • RockyMounts provides three keys with the Hendrix.

3 reasons not to buy

  • This lock hasn’t been third-party security tested.
  • Owners struggle to position the Hendrix for locking due to its short 20" circumference, one saying it’s only suitable for thin frame tubing.
  • An expert lock picker cracks the lock in seconds.

Bottom line

The RockyMounts Hendrix is a lightweight folding lock. Unfortunately, it hasn’t undergone third-party testing. Owners praise its low weight and portability, but this likely comes at the expense of security. A lock-picking tester cracks the lock very quickly, though this isn’t a common form of theft. Overall, the Hendrix is only suitable as a light theft deterrent in low-risk situations. The folding locks from Seatylock offer third-party-approved security for higher-risk environments, though they are heavier and more expensive.

[1110] Raking Open the RockyMounts “Hendrix” Bike Lock

Here we have a bike lock that provides less pick resistance than even some of the cheapest locks out there. Obviously, I see this as something to avoid.
