The Bay Ride

The Bay Ride is a transformative charity cycling event that began with a simple question: “Why doesn’t the Bay Area have its own signature bike tour?” What started in 2014 as three friends testing the possibility of cycling around the entire San Francisco Bay has evolved into a pioneering movement, growing from a handful of riders to over 100 cyclists in 2024. Today, we offer two signature routes: an epic 135-mile journey circumnavigating the entire Bay Area and a 40-mile ride from San Francisco to Oakland.

Operating under LiveTheBay.org, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we’re not just organizing a ride – we’re building a movement to transform the Bay Area into America’s premier cycling metropolis. Our vision includes creating a synchronized day of celebration spanning the entire Bay, where each community hosts their own cycling festival, connecting diverse communities through the joy of cycling.
