Space Race Rumpus

The Space Race Rumpus is an annual mountain biking, music and camping festival hosted by the Northern Pocahontas Wellness Center and the Green Bank Observatory in Green Bank WV. The event takes participants on rides throughout the county, showcasing the beautiful landscape, local businesses, historical landmarks, and local biking trails such as the Greenbrier River Trail. Participants can come for one, two, or three days and take part in any of the guided mountain biking or road biking rides and/or the popular Short Track Bike Race and Time Trials and STAG (Single track, and Gravel) race on Sunday. We welcome riders of all abilities and ages.

Expertly guided rides will continue to introduce participants to little-known biking trails that provide scenic views of the county and give our visitors a “local insider’s guide” to some of the best biking to explore in Pocahontas County. With 10 successful years to build upon, the Space Race Rumpus will feature a variety of engaging children’s activities, our well-attended how-to clinics, science and art themed educational activities, expanded local artisan and vendor tents, buffet-style meals, and nighttime entertainment. Evenings will feature bonfires, star-gazing parties, and live music. The event has drawn hundreds of people over past years.
