BikeRide finds and shows you the best prices of the bikes you want to buy. Prices constantly change and it’s impossible to compare them all yourself.
We search for prices on over 120 bike retailers to guarantee that we find the lowest prices – to save you time and money.
It’s a promise we stand behind: If you find a lower price on a bike elsewhere, we will sell it to you for 10% less. For example, if you find a bike for $480 that we have listed at $500, we will offer you to buy it for $432 through BikeRide. The bike must be the same color and size, sold in the US and not include the use of a coupon.
If you find a lower price, email us at [email protected] with documentation of the price. We’re committed to making sure that the cost of a bike does not keep you from cycling!

11 reasons not to buy
- HOVSCO rates the step-over frame for 5’3” to 6’7”, but two 5’11” reviewers are at the limit of the standover height.
- Experts report ghost pedaling before reaching the 28mph pedal assist top speed.
- Reviewers complain the bike doesn’t sustain the max throttle speed (20mph). Once it reaches 20mph, it repeats a cycle of slowing to 18mph and accelerating to 20mph again.

- Three testers call the HovAlpha step-over’s forward-learning riding position uncomfortable.
- At almost 79” long and 72.8lb, the HovAlpha is long and heavy.
- Two testers complain that the initial throttle power delivery is jumpy.
- An expert and an owner report errors with the electronics that render their bikes unusable.
Bottom line
The HOVSCO HovAlpha is a fat-tire e-bike available as a step-over or step-through. It has a 750W motor, a 960Wh battery, and a suspension fork. Reviewers praise the responsive assistance, climbing power, and performance on light off-road trails. The clean finish, high payload capacity, and solid battery range also impress. Throttle power fluctuations, the glitchy Android app, and the exaggerated height range disappoint, and some find the step-over frame's aggressive riding position uncomfortable. Testers also wish for higher gearing, a more comfortable saddle, and better lights. Overall, the HovAlpha is considered a good, fairly priced option in a competitive e-bike segment.Expert Reviews
