Summary of Reviews

We have read all expert and user reviews on the KBO Breeze Step-Thru. In summary, this is what cyclists think.

11 reasons to buy

  • The low step-through frame is easy to mount and dismount.
  • Reviewers appreciate the half-twist throttle’s gentle initial acceleration but fast ramp-up. In one throttle speed test, the Breeze reaches 21mph in 12 seconds.
  • The 768Wh battery is above average for this price point. One expert covers 19.5 miles and 783 feet of elevation at full throttle.
  • Reviewers compliment the “sleek” frame design.
  • Power output remains constant regardless of battery level, according to an expert.
  • Two testers praise the nimble handling.
  • One expert highlights the simple, user-friendly controls.
  • A reviewer finds the 27.5” x 2.4” street tires fast-rolling.
  • The KBO Breeze Step-Thru comes with integrated lights, fenders, a bottle cage, a multitool, and a rear rack rated for 55lb.
  • The 3A charger reduces charging times over the more typical 2A at this price point.
  • The 80mm suspension fork has preload adjustment and lockout.

8 reasons not to buy

  • Experts say the Breeze Step-Thru feels unstable at high speeds.
  • Pedal assist takes one full revolution to kick in, according to testers.
  • Experts find the 500W 60Nm motor struggles on steep gradients.
  • Multiple owners and testers have trouble addressing the squealing brakes.
  • The aluminum fenders rattle and rub, according to reviewers.
  • Several testers find the Breeze uncomfortable, with shorter riders feeling stretched and taller riders feeling hunched over.
  • A reviewer complains that their battery is empty despite the battery indicator showing two of five bars.
  • The Breeze Step-Thru turns on without the need for a key, increasing the risk of theft.

Bottom line

The KBO Breeze Step-Thru is an entry-level commuter e-bike with a 500W motor, 27.5” wheels, and a 300lb payload capacity. Reviewers appreciate the handy commuter accessories, battery range, gentle initial acceleration, and accessible low-step frame. However, the 500W motor struggles on hills, pedal assist activation is laggy, and some testers find the ride uncomfortable. Overall, the Breeze Step-Thru fails to stand out in a competitive entry-level commuter segment. Alternatives include the Ride1UP 700 Series and Heybike Cityrun.

KBO Breeze Step-Thru Electric Bike Review

The KBO Breeze ST is priced accordingly. It’s got a smaller motor and less torque, and as a result, you get a product that is… cheaper than other entry-level competitors.

KBO Breeze ST Commuter E-Bike – Test and Review

The seat can get very low to the pedals for very short riders. The only size constraint is really the reach to the handlebars. The KBO Breeze ST is a solid, good-value, entry-level commuter e-bike.

KBO Breeze Step-Thru Review – A Step Up From the Original?

If you actually know what Nm stands for and means in terms of torque, you should probably pass on this bike. It has a lot of great features, sure, but it’s not designed for the person who is super-obsessed with bikes.

The bike is an attractive option in the commuter electric bicycle space and is fairly priced for what you get. It doesn’t provide any world-changing innovation, but it gets the job done nicely.

My Current Favorite Commuter E-Bike! (KBO Breeze Step-Thru)

I got nitpicky with the charge port cover popping open when you ride, or the saddle being a little square for my taste, but overall, I found the Breeze Step-Thru to be a very good e-bike for the price.
