9 reasons not to buy
- Reviewers find the 20mph top speed excessive, with the trike feeling unstable at this speed.
- At 101lb, the Granite is around 20lb heavier than competing e-trikes, according to one publication.
- Testers report significant frame flex under load.
- At 42″ x 37″ x 36″ when folded, the Granite is too bulky to be portable. Experts call the folding ability a cumbersome and pointless feature.
- Mokwheel advertises a 3A charger but ships 2A instead.
- One 5’11” reviewer fails to achieve full leg extension at the max seat height.
- The 19” reach may be too long for riders at the shorter end of the 5’0” to 6’2” height range.
- Two testers say the large saddle and fixed backrest make pedaling awkward, forcing them to sit forward on the saddle for better leg movement.
- Experts say unboxing the heavy trike and installing the fenders is time-consuming.
Bottom line
The Mokwheel Granite is a folding electric trike with a 500W motor, 720Wh battery, and 3” fat tires. The responsive throttle, climbing power, solid range, and comfortable ride impress testers who appreciate the powerful triple hydraulic disc brakes. The high weight and cumbersome folding process lead reviewers to call the folding feature pointless. Other concerns include frame flex, awkward pedaling, and unrealistic sizing. Despite these drawbacks, experts consider the Granite a decent pick in the e-trike segment.Expert Reviews
