9 reasons to buy

  • The Threshold was more than able across singletrack, mud, sand and snow.
  • The stock spec was seen by reviewers to need no further upgrades.
  • Acceleration was said to be stupendous.
  • Balanced handling gave riders control on twisty trails.
  • Hidden inserts with fender attachments made this more than just a cross bike.
  • An Easton carbon fiber handlebar kept the front end light.
  • On the Force 1, Easton EA90 SL Disc wheelsets were light and strong.
  • The Easton EC90 crankset made it easy to build 1x and 2x drivetrains.
  • On the Force 1, SRAM hydraulic brakes modulated well.

3 reasons not to buy

  • Some rides begged a bigger range than that offered by the 11-32 cassette.
  • Versatile touches made the Threshold heavier than the competition.
  • The optional chain-catcher had a tendency to collect mud.

Bottom line

Experts said no upgrades were needed on a new Carbon Force 1 Threshold. This rig’s versatility made it much more than just a cyclocross rig. It served as a capable gravel and road bike too. Other models came with Aluminum frames and a Carbon fork. The single-speed aluminum version is a lightweight, low-maintenance thrasher that will see you across the roughest city streets and onto forest roads.

2018 Norco Threshold C Force 1 Review

…awesome acceleration and balanced handling… as a mechanic, I was left empty-handed in the complaints department… certainly head and shoulders above any of the other race-worthy models providing fender mounts…

Norco Threshold C Force 1 Review

The bike comes stock with an excellent build… most people in Canada with a ‘cross bike will race every so often in the spring and the fall but the rest of the year they require an off-road bike for flowy singletrack, gravel or even set up with road tires… the Threshold allows you to do all that.
