BikeRide finds and shows you the best prices of the bikes you want to buy. Prices constantly change and it’s impossible to compare them all yourself.

We search for prices on over 120 bike retailers to guarantee that we find the lowest prices – to save you time and money.

It’s a promise we stand behind: If you find a lower price on a bike elsewhere, we will sell it to you for 10% less. For example, if you find a bike for $480 that we have listed at $500, we will offer you to buy it for $432 through BikeRide. The bike must be the same color and size, sold in the US and not include the use of a coupon.

If you find a lower price, email us at [email protected] with documentation of the price. We’re committed to making sure that the cost of a bike does not keep you from cycling!

Summary of Reviews

We have read all expert and user reviews on the Priority 600HXT. In summary, this is what cyclists think.

11 reasons to buy

  • The 600HXT uses a low-maintenance Pinion Smart.Shift C1.12i gearbox (600% gear range) and Gates Carbon belt drive.
  • Experts praise the planted feel provided by the low bottom bracket, maintaining traction well on steep climbs.
  • Two reviewers relish the 600HXT's performance on fast, technical descents.
  • The stiff rear end, short seat tube, and long dropper post help a tester lean into corners and accelerate out quickly.
  • Reviewers agree the 140mm FOX 34 Performance suspension fork performs flawlessly, one calling it the gold standard at this price point.
  • The TRP Slate T4 hydraulic four-piston disc brakes provide plenty of stopping power.
  • The frame has internal cable routing, a triple-pack mount, two bottle cage mounts, rear rack mounts, and a kickstand mount.
  • A tester says the WTB Vigilante 2.5” (front) and Trail Boss 2.6” (rear) tires offer lots of grip.
  • One reviewer hasn't needed to do any maintenance after over 1,200 miles of riding.
  • Reviewers appreciate being able to shift without pedaling.
  • The Smart.Shift battery impresses reviewers with a claimed 100 riding hours or 10,000 shifts per charge.

7 reasons not to buy

  • Reviewers find the Priority 600HXT very heavy for a hardtail. It weighs 36lb with tubes in size M.
  • There is no way of knowing which gear is selected.
  • An expert say the stiff, unforgiving frame adds to fatigue on longer rides.
  • Pinion's Smart.Shift app is useless, except to check battery charge, according to a reviewer.
  • Frame sizing begins at 5’5”, excluding shorter riders.
  • Two testers report clicking and metallic sounds from the gearbox when under heavy load or in the highest gear.
  • An expert admits that learning to shift with the Pinion gearbox requires practice.

Bottom line

Priority's 600HXT is a trail hardtail with a Pinion Smart.Shift transmission and Gates Carbon belt drive. Experts who relish tackling rough terrain without a rear derailleur praise the planted feel on steep climbs, the confident handling on fast, technical descents, the ability to lean into corners, and the snappy acceleration from the rigid frame. However, the bike is quite heavy, and the "noisy" Pinion gearbox won't shift under heavy loads, has delayed crank engagement, and lacks a gear indicator. While testers commend the 600HXT's trail performance, the benefits of the gearbox might not outweigh its drawbacks.

Priority 600HXT Review: Shifting Opinions

Despite being the heaviest hardtail I’ve ridden to date, it still has a playful and confident ride quality that charges through singletrack thanks to a stiff chassis and derailleur-free rear end.

Priority 600HXT With Smart.Shift – First Ride Impressions

For what I got this bike for – a tough hardtail that can be used in sloppy conditions when I don’t want to take out my main full-suspension bike – I think I’m going to be pretty happy with the 600HXT.
